Dates: 24th-28th of June 2023. Venue: KTH Flemingsberg, Stockholm, Sweden The First Health Systems Design Summer School (HSDSS) was a one-week summer school where young researchers from all over the world came together to work on interdisciplinary projects around health systems design. The primary focus of the summer school was to connect participants from different research disciplines to peers with a shared interest in health systems while working on novel research projects. Participants were free to ideate research projects, whose preliminary results were presented at the end of the workshop. The summer school originates from the initiative of the Health Systems Design Special Interest Group of the Design Society. The group has been formed with the goal of creating a space and building a community for researchers who are interested in the study of health systems design. This initiative builds on the perception there is a steadily increasing interest in this topic within and beyond the Design Society. Systems design research and practice has a lot to offer in actively tackling the major health challenges facing society, and the Design Society can play a key role in making this happen. The need to connect people and technology provides us with unprecedented opportunities that we would like to bring to the fore with this Special Interest Group.
